In 11th to 12th centuries, homosexuality is accepted by Chistian socirty. There are gays everywhere in art, poetry, music, and history. However, at present, Fundamentalist Chistians and American culture still oppose homosexual and bisexual especially in conservative people. The same concerning between religion and science is about the effects of homosexuality to human evolution in future.

According to the article, I think that homosexuality is one of the biggest issues in social today. If we look at the sciencetific view point about human evolution, homosexuality is our problem that we should pay attention. Because if population of homosexual increase continuously, the population growth rate possibly shrink. However, this is just an assuming, we don’t exactly know what will happen in future. In my opinion, I don’t think that homosexuality is a problem. As long as homosexuals wouldn’t break law, kill or hurt someone, steal, or trouble with somebody, they should be accepted to live in society normally. No one can choose what they were born but everyone can choose what they will be. Many homosexuals can do their jobs efficiency and have responsibity to society. I have many gays friend that are so gentle, kindness, and helpful to women and they are still good advicer. Those reasons make me not against gays or any homosexuals. Although I can accepted homosexuals, I still disagree with men or women who changed to be homosexuals by following fashion, a momentary slip of emotion, or just want to feel differrent. I would not decied that homosexuality should be accepted by religions or not because this issues need carefully decision. But I suggest that we should be accepted that homosexuals are normal people like us.

What do think ? Can you accept gays? And if your family have gays, can you accept?

Acceptance of gays

Coffee may reduce liver disease

I read an article "Coffee may reduce liver disease" on BBC News. It was about the new research show that people can avoid the risk of alcohol-related liver disease by drinking coffee. The level of enzyme that is an indicator of alcoholic cirrhosis of drinkers who drank coffee is lower than drinkers who did not drink coffee. However, the researchers didn't absolutely sure that caffeine was the affected-factor because there is no differrent in drinkers who drank tea.

After I read this article I think it is so lucky for every heavy alcohol drinkers. They can find the way to reduce their liver disease risk. Actually, I disagree with the idea that if you drink more coffee, your risk of alcoholic cirrhosis will lower. That doesn't solve at original cause because the real cause of alcoholic cirrhosis is drinking too much alcohol. And if you drink too much both alcohol and coffee, you will be an alcoholism and caffein addict in the same time. Then the best way to avoid liver disease is that you should decrease the amount of alcohol intake.

Vocabulary :

cirrhosis : the replacement of normal tissue with fibrous tissue and loss of function liver cell. It can result from alcohol abuse, nutritional deprivation, or infection by the hapatitis virus.

diagnostic : to identify disease

voluntary : done willingly and without constraint or expectation of reward.

Questions :

1. Do you agree that drinking more coffee can reduce risk of liver disease by alcohol?

2. If you drink much both alcohol and coffee, do you think that you will be an alcoholism and caffein addict in the same time?

3. What do you think about people who worry in risk of alcoholic cirrhosis but still drink?

4. It was about NASA Shuttle Program Manager, Wayne Hale, speaking at the space program’s Debris Design Verification Review meetings on the status of STS-121 mission. He said that the shuttle will release foam debris during launch but the mission still go on. NASA Engineers are still working in this problem.

I was interested in this article because when I was young, I had dreamed to be an astronuat. I agree with this mission because I think discovering other planets can show us how our Earth used to be and how it will be in the future. I believe that everry planets in the same Universe born and will die in the same way. However, NASA should think over the hazardous waste that will release after shuttle launch, how they can eliminate it or how they can clean it up.

related link

Vocabulary :

contigency (n) : an event that may occur but is not intended.

debris (n) : trash, rubblish

hazardous waste (n) : a substance, such as nuclear waste or industrial byproduct, that is potentially damage to environment and harmful to human and other living organisms.

Question :

1. I read this aricle on BBC News. It was about Venezuelan Government accussed of the violent computer game named “Mercenaries2:World in Flame”, a production by Pandemic Studios, the game entertainment company.

Mercenaries 2 is developed for PlayStation 3 and dued to released next year. In the game, players act as soilders and drop into Venezuela to help settle an oil dispute, take on "a Venezuelan power tyrant", and sparking an invasion that turn the country into a warzone. Players have the latest and most dangerous in cilvilian and military technology, for example, satellite-guide bunker, sport car, luxury mobile etc. and can build their own private military.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chaves afraid that this game can motivate an invasion in Venezuela. His supporter think that this game is prepared for a real invasion in future and for use by U.S army. However, the company said that the company has no relation with U.S. Government and this game is only about entertainment.

I agree with Mr.Chavez that the game can motivate an invasion. Becase I think many computer games, including vedio and internet games, effect to our lifestyle at present. Many game entertainment companies have produced more realistic games. In a game, players can participate in the situation that look like they are staying in that situation. They can manage almost everthing in their game world. For example, in SimCity, a stimulation and city-building game, we can build and design our city. In another series of SimCity, we have a restaurant. We can decorate our restaurant, create menu, and manage our business. It seem to be the real situation that we can prepare for our business in a real world. In the same way, I think “Mercenaries2” can prepare us for a real world, too. It can possibly motivate the violence and prepare armed forces for war. Therefore, U.S. Government should have any policy to control these violent games.

Vocabulary :

invasion (n.) : entrance of an armed force into an area of land to win victory over

infantry (n.) : an army that trained to fight on foot

tyrant (n.) : person who has power in the country and use the power in unfair way

Question :

1. Do you think this game can motivate to have an invasion in the real world?

2. What do you think about computer game?

3.
